The state Department of Ecology is requiring Chevron to re-evaluate a decades-old gasoline spill that left some 300,000 gallons of pollutants in the aquifer below Chelan, and come up with a new plan for cleaning it up. “This is right in the city, and it’s been complicated because of that,” said Ecology spokeswoman Joye Redfield-Wilder. “We’re wanting to respect the businesses, but also not wanting to leave this. It’s in shallow ground, covering about 2 acres and two city blocks,” she said. Development of a final cleanup plan will likely take at least two years. (Full article at: wwrld.us/chelanfuelspill)
