The state has rested in the Longbine murder trial. At 1:30 this afternoon the defenses first witness is expected to be the defendant herself, Chastity. She and her father are accused of shooting and killing her boyfriend in May of 2012. The defense contends this is a self defense case. The medical examiner last week testified that the victim, Jesus Quintanilla had toxic levels of methamphetamine in his body. The state and defense are also discussing whether to present the jury with lesser included charges rather than just the murder charge. Options could include negligent homicide or manslaughter. Court remains in recess until 1:30.
