The state of the union is…disunion…It’s not just Blue and Red States being pulled apart by politics. Many rural Coloradans are upset that an influx of California liberals has elected a gun-banning, pot-legalizing state government. Some conservative counties are considering breaking away to become the 51st state of North Colorado. All the Constitution requires is approval of the state legislature and the US Congress, although the last time it happened was West Virginia in 1863. It’s too bad it’s come to this: political divisions split apart the nation, then states, then friends. Americans should respect each other’s differences, and not trample on the other person’s rights . As Abraham Lincoln once said, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” But then, he was a Republican, so today, liberals would probably unfriend you for quoting him.
