The stories of my hundreth birthday are greatly exageratted. It is, however, the cenntenial of one of the most influential events in world history. On this date, in 1914, the German Empire declares war on the Russian Empire, after Russia refused to cease mobilization in response to Austrias declaration of war against Serbia. France would soon join their ally, Russia, against Germany. Germanys invasion of Belgium would bring England into the war 4 days later. Four years of senseless, bloody conflict would ensue, draining the resources of Europe, destroying four empires, and killing the flower of youth of nearly an entire generation.
