The storminess in California and the Pacific region is probably - TopicsExpress

The storminess in California and the Pacific region is probably related to recently strengthened el nino conditions--warmer near surface waters in the east central tropical Pacific. We dont have an official el nino yet because these conditions havent lasted long enough to qualify as such. But should these warm sea surface temperatures persist, they strengthen the southern branch of the jet stream, bringing more storms onshore into parched CA. And, they MAY counter a few other stronger indicators of a colder than average winter in the east by the end of the year...MAY: mp1.met.psu.edu/~fxg1/SAT_WEST/anim8ir.html
