The story behind the photo: "His Mom Caught Him Spending Time With His Dad Who Died Fighting In Afghanistan" A lot of you have seen this photo, usually with the caption "His Mom caught him spending time with his dad who died in action in Afghanistan". The Soldier in the photo is SFC Benjamin Wise, he died at Joint Base Lewis McChord on 15 Jan 2012 from injuries sustained from small arms fire in Balkh province, Afghanistan. Wise was on his fourth deployment when he was killed during an insurgent attack, and even more tragically, his brother Jeremy, 35, was killed in Afghanistan in 2009. The other brother is also currently serving. His brother, 35-year-old Jeremy Wise, was killed in a terrorist attack on a CIA outpost in Afghanistan in December 2009. He was a former Navy Seal working as a security contractor.
