The story of Ozone is similar to the story of hemp versus cotton. In this story the most powerful disinfectant on the planet (used since the 1800’s) loses out because it gets very little proper airplay. The problem with Ozone is that once you have the means to make it (the hardware) there is no running costs after that until your “lighting in a box” needs a new spark plug. With just the maintenance free hardware up for sale it was never going to be as profitable as supplying chemicals to disinfect human contact surfaces, water and fresh food produce. It also requires some responsibility and knowledge on the part of the human users. Ozone, which has been validated by scientists since 1906 for a multitude of pathogens in an array of applications, kills all known human pathogens, such as Ebola, H7N9 avian flu, SARS, and almost all other disease-causing viruses, bacteria, and fungal species such as the health-destroying Stachybotrys, Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Chaetomium toxic mold species. If you think that more days on planet earth might average between 34 and 38 degrees more often and that this might create conditions a little more favourable to infections organisms, both natural and designed, then it might be sensible to promote ozone generators and disinfection solutions in your place of work, your gym, the restaurants you frequent and the home you live in. But that is NOT our primary sales pitch. Focusing on the “fear factor” aspects does not excite us here at NET. But we do think you need to be aware of the disinfecting powers of ozone: no chemicals, no running costs, and no residue to develop super bugs. Ozone breaks down rapidly after dispensing. What really does EXCITE us here in the NET caravan is that these ozone tap water adaptors make fresh produce (veggies, fruit, meat, the works) just so much happier, healthier and full of likeness. Initially, the amazing response of fresh vegetables and fruits to a rinse in ozonated water was thought to be about the demolition of the pathogens on the produce. It turns out that it is this as well as the strange fact that the produce seems essentially “stronger” after an ozone rinse. In addition to this freshing and increasing the shelf life of produce the zone rinse will also oxidize and breakdown the pesticides that the produce was treated with in the supply chain. This helps remove a series of diverse contaminants that do systematically enter our bodies. Better nutrition is a vital key to improving human life. Quoting from Planet Earth Online May 2013: “A study, published in Postharvest Biology and Technology, explored the impacts of ozone on the amounts of certain proteins – called the protein profile – were present in a tomato fruit, to try and unravel why low level Ozone has been used as an antispoilage agent for years, but while we know it works, we didnt know why until this study, says Professor Jeremy Barnes, of Newcastle University, who coauthored the paper. The team found that changes in the proteins observed when a tomato fruit was treated with ozone after it had been harvested were associated with defence and signalling responses. The mechanistic relationships are still rather poorly understood but responses are believed to be associated with physical and chemical defence responses, as well as enhanced repair capacity, says Barnes. The scientists also showed that storage of fruit in enhanced levels of ozone inoculates it against pathogens for up to two weeks afterwards, even once it is removed from the ozoneenriched atmosphere. If you reintroduce a pathogen to a tomato thats been given ozone it doesnt grow anywhere near as voraciously as it does in a nontreated tomato, says Barnes. One of the most surprising outcomes of our study is the fact that shifts in protein profiles were sustained for a short period following removal of the fruit from the ozone enriched environment and this was consistent with memory effects reported by the authors – effects consistent with enhancement of product shelflife. “ So when Richard Branson’s Ulusaba Private Game Reserve approached us to improve the levels of disinfection in their lodge kitchens we recommended the “Water Ozonator CYS300C”. The tap adaptor will fit most faucets as shown. A basic male threaded 15mm tap fitting is what the adaptor will fit onto. Pictures of these installations shown below. It’s a DIY install. However, for those who would like to have one of our installation technicians do the job we can help you out with we can in DBN, CT JHB and pretty much everywhere else in between. CYS300C Ozone Tap Adaptor: rinse all produce, wash hands and outer skin (health and beauty), will oxidize chlorine in tap water (drink only after 30 minutes standing), disinfect all surfaces rinsed with ozonated water, brush teeth….
