The story of the newborn baby boy rescued from a sewer pipe in China has come to a very strange end. Yesterday, police announced that he’s out of the hospital and been returned to his mother. The mother who admitted giving birth in a bathroom to a baby she’d at first wanted to abort, and letting him slide down the toilet. But police say she likely won’t be charged with anything. They buy her story that she lied to them because she was frightened, and that letting the baby slide down the sewer pipe was “accidental.” A lot of people in China find that hard to believe.
