The strength of our economy comes from having a diversity of opinions to draw upon and finding a compromise. Generally, Democrats support demand-side economics, believing the economy is built from the bottom up. They support policies that promote education, universal health care and laws protecting the consumer. Democrats believe strengthening wages leads to more consumer purchases, increasing the need for additional jobs, business sales and profits. While Republicans support supply-side economics, saying it’s the producers who create jobs. Their instincts are to protect producers from the consumer and the government, accusing consumer advocates, unions, regulation and taxes of holding business back.
