The student who showed up with her mom in tow today in my sophomore level composition class was a bit of a suprise. The mother dutifully took notes (!) and had read the material. Professor/College instructor friends, whats your feeling on parents (not of prospective students, but actual students) accompanying their kid to class? The mom was pleasant, but I couldnt escape the feeling that she might have been judging and/or taping me for future scrutiny. (Btw, this student said she once brought her grandparents to class (!). I do like the idea of a village raising a family, but come on...the feel of the community was altered a bit by the moms presence, quite frankly.
