The submission date has now passed for comments to NICE in response to their intention to put the review of CFS/ME on hold for yet another 5 years by placing it on the newly created static list. There is an interesting selection of submissions available to view on-line, reflecting the importance that different organisations give to this crucial event. The ME Association and Invest in ME have given detailed and substantial evidence for their reasons for their wholehearted disagreement with this proposal, which if it comes into effect will continue to have a devastating impact on the lives of people with ME and their families. There is already an increase in the numbers of cases where children and families are being put at risk by misguided professionals who ruthlessly follow some aspects of the NICE Guidelines whilst ignoring other aspects. meassociation.org.uk/2013/10/mea-opposes-plan-to-put-review-of-nice-mecfs-guideline-on-hold-23-october-2013/ investinme.org/Documents/NICE/CGStaticListConsultationCommentsProforma%20October%202013%20-%20Invest%20in%20ME%20Charity.pdf Although Action for ME states they emphatically disagree with the proposal, they have not backed this up with informed critique or solid evidence. Instead a few brief, unsubstantiated comments are offered; a submission that seems to be totally inappropriate for such an important issue where ME patients lives are at stake. actionforme.org.uk/Resources/Action%20for%20ME/Documents/get-involved/nice-static-list-response.pdf
