The sun breached the horizon once again today although hidden from sight by a cloud covered sky. Though hidden, its rays still filters through the life giving moisture captured and floating in the sky. The old farm house we call home is surrounded by crops that are brought to life by the sun and the rain. This vista inspires and affirms the hope of tomorrow’s bounty. Trees in full foliage are scattered across the landscape with each leaf bearing the minute design to take in our exhaled breath to refurbish the atmosphere with fresh oxygen for us to breathe anew. It matters little what one believes, the life giving force of God’s grace continues to supply the needed ingredients to sustain each moment of His gift of life. However, the quality, significance, value and benefit of this precious gift will never be fully appreciated without knowing the source of this holy endowment of the breath of life. Without an appreciation of the giver one could be the wealthiest person in this world and still suffer the pangs of the poverty of soul and spirit. Because life is a gift, an unmerited one at that, the proper rule of etiquette would compel us to make known our deep sense of appreciation. Great gifts need to be received with an equal measure of gratitude. It is time to face the simple reality that a heart filled with an attitude of entitlement has little room for the spirit of thankfulness. Today would be a good day to expel every ounce of the spirit of entitlement and replace it with the genuine jewel of a truly grateful heart. If I/we do so it will always make it possible to see a sunny day even if it is veiled with dark clouds. Can you see the new day’s sun? I pray so! It will make it far easier to have a great day!!!
