The supreme Court of Connecticut will decide this week if a 17-year-old has the right to make her own medical decisions and refuse to have chemotherapy to treat stage 4 hodgkins lymphoma. Her mother reported recently that Cassandra put up a fight and had to be strapped down on the hospital bed to have preparatory surgery before the chemotherapy began, and has not been permitted to leave the hospital room in about four weeks. Cassandra and her mother initially complied with the court order and the teenager received her first two chemotherapy treatments in November. But Cassandra subsequently ran away from home to avoid further treatment, the summary states. When she returned, she continued to refuse the treatment, the summary says. After a hearing in the Child Protection Session of Superior Court, at which Cassandras doctors testified, the trial court ordered that she be removed from her home and that she remain in DCFs care and custody. The court also authorized DCF to make all necessary medical decisions on Cassandras behalf, the case summary states. Please help raise awareness against medical tyranny. courant/news/connecticut/hc-teen-battles-chemo-order-0103-20150102-story.html#page=1
