The surge in the deportation machine designed to quickly kick out Central American minors is cruel, shortsighted, ineffective and counter productive. We have been building fences for 20 years and have spend BILLIONS in enforcement-only approaches that do not address the social and sociological dimensions of immigration. The problem has been manufactured over time by a completely ineffective and stupid immigration policy and maintained by a cabal of interest groups (in the US and beyond) that obfuscate the issue and demagogue it to instill fear in the American people and advance their particular agendas. Meanwhile, what about the children and their families? Who is looking out for them?
