The surgeon just called. Mom made it through surgery and is in the TICU. He said that he was able to remove a smaller piece of bone than he initially thought AND he was able to replace the section. He did say that she essentially tore a vein in her head and there was a lot of blood loss. They gave her a lot of platelets and told me that it would take around 7 days to eliminate the effects of the blood thinners. In the meantime, they will continue to monitor the bleeding via ct scans, because he said continued bleeding was a possibility. I should be able to see her in about an hour. She is still on the ventilator, which is more the new issue, provided the bleeding stays resolved. They are concerned about the risk of pneumonia with continued. She has diminished heart/lung function that was an issue previous to this that is also a hindrance. At the moment though, Im just happy with one step at a time. #blessings Thank you again for your continued support and kind thoughts.
