The team finished a double session in order to prepare for their second preseason game. Coentrão joined the team in the afternoon Real Madrid began the second week of training of the preseason with a double work session to prepare for tomorrow’s match against the Olympique de Lyon at Gerland Stadium (21:00; Antena 3 & Gol T). Carlo Ancelotti, who once again combined fitness work and ball exercises, had 25 players involved in the session which included academy players, Cheryshev, Mejias, Casado, Mateos and Quini. Xabi Alonso and Varane completed the first part of the session with the group and then continued their recovery exercises, while Coentrao, with permission of the club, did not train out on the field. During the evening session, the Portuguese defender returned to work with his colleagues. Alonso and Varane finished the first session together with the rest of the team. Then, the French player exercised at the gymnasium while the Basque player performed individual field work. Real Madrid returned to training following their good preseason-opening match against Bournemouth and began preparations for their second, which takes place tomorrow against Olympique Lyon. The usual stretching and warm-up exercises, in which Xabi Alonso and Varane also participated, led on to the squad being divided into different groups. In one of them were the outfield players, who continued with muscle strengthening exercises, and in the other were Diego Lopez, Mejias, Jesus and Adan, who worked on specifics with the goalkeeping coach. Ball exercises followed and the players worked on passing and ball movement. The players were subsequently divided into two teams to play a match, with one of them playing as a floater. During the evening session, Coentrão returned to work with his colleagues while Alonso and Varane again finished the first session together with the rest of the team, while later the French player exercised at the gymnasium and the Basque player performed individual field work.
