The tensions between Edward Snowden, the U.S. and Europe have dramatically increased after Secret documents of U.S. intelligence have revealed that the NSA controls an extensive amount of surveillance of telecommunications in Germany. This information is new knowledge to Germany who have been informed that around 20 million telephone connections, and 10 million Internet records have been accessed and/or recorded. According to leaks, on one particular day (7 January 2013), the surveillance included roughly 60 million telephone connections.
