The the government is building internment camps conspiracy theory is the vogue among right wing conspiracy theorists. Glenn Beck has been going on about it for years, as has Alex Jones, et al. Kevin Swanson is the latest member of the propaganda machine to leap on this bandwagon and sell advertising space to an increasingly paranoid and ill-informed audience. However, the truth is that America already has a thriving private prisons industry. People are thrown into slave labor penal system on the slightest pretext. It is the American Gulag and how they got around the Thirteenth Amendment. Why would the government need camps? It is a fictional, paranoid conspiracy theory sold to gullible and deranged audiences. But sometimes when listening to one of these right wing propagandists blathering on, I find myself thinking, Hmmm, maybe Marxist re-education camps wouldnt be such a bad idea...
