The theme of this weeks games is Norfolk vs Suffolk with three games against Norwich City teams, as well as North Norfolk and Pelicans. Its also the last game of outdoor competition for Womens 1st team, playing at home and building momentum, theyre looking to secure all three points against Horsham going into the indoor season. Meanwhile the Mens 1st team are looking to maintain their unbeaten run this season playing Norwich City 1s. Mens 2s and 4s are both at home this week, playing Norwich City 2s and North Norfolk, as are Womens 2 who take on Old Loughts. Womens 3s, 4s, and 5s are travelling away, to Norwich City (playing before our Mens 1s!), Sudbury, and Felixstowe. Finally, Mens 3s are travelling the furthest this week, and have a graveyard time slot too, off to play Pelicans 4s at 3pm - lets hope they get the win to make it worthwhile! The final Sunday session of the year will be on Sunday 14th December and will resume on Sunday 11th January 2015. This week we host Cambridge Citys Womens O35s in the second round of the England Hockey National Club Cup, at Tuddenham Road at 1pm, while the Mens O50s will be travelling to play Harleston Magpies in their next round match. Hockey Section News We have not one but two social dates for your diary coming up in December. First up we will be running a fun Quiz Night on Sat 6th at Tuddenham Road. Come along wearing a hint of Christmas to get in the festive mood. Well be getting going around 7.00pm, £20 entry for teams of 6 to be formed in advance or on the night, with bonus points for creative team names! A week later, on Sat 13th Dec, the Womens 1s will be hosting an Auction of Promises to raise funds for their National Indoor League campaign 2014/15 and for the East Anglian Childrens Hospice. There are some fantastic promises up for grabs, including weekend stays at the coast and in the countryside, meals at lovely restaurants and pubs, and great experiences, all of which would make very welcome Christmas presents. The evening starts at 7.00pm at Henley Road and we hope it will be well supported by members from across the Sports Club as well as the Hockey crowd as our last social event on 2014. Anyone who was at Tuddenham Road in the last couple of weeks (in daylight hours!) will have noticed the fresh look of the outside of the building. Next on the to do list are Helping Hands days to take on jobs inside the building. Were hoping to run these on Sundays in January, more details to follow, if you can help with organising one of the days or can lend a hand please get in touch. Finally my weekly note about volunteering - please dont think that your help is not needed, we all have a responsibility as members to lend a hand, and those involved in the organising behind the scenes need your help to spread the load! We welcome anyone who is willing to help with the project to resurface Tuddenham Road or on Committee and the section generally. Whatever your skills and experience you will be able to make a difference and directly influence how the hockey section is run and the direction it takes. If you like the way it runs now, get involved to keep it that way. If you dont like it, get involved to make a change! Please get in touch by email or chat to any Committee members about how you can get involved. Good luck and enjoy wherever youre playing, umpiring, coaching, supporting, and socialising this weekend!
