The third annual Rabbit River Folk Festival will be held Saturday August 3rd in the beautiful City Park of Wayland. The purpose of the event is to bring people together for a day of folk music. This event is free to the public and is part of the City of Wayland’s parks program. So bring your instruments and/or lawn chairs out to the Wayland City Park and join in the fun. The one day festival begins at 10 a.m. with our first main stage performance. There will also be musical workshops open to all at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Workshops will be on jam etiquette, strumsticking and ukulele playing. Between the main stage acts there will be an open mic on a stage for anyone who wants to play a song on stage. Our main stage will feature wonderful folk music acts such as: Randy Stauffer, Pryer Times, Rick Tripplet, Brush Ridge, Corey Allen, Southern Ledge, Phil & J.D., Punch Drunk, The Tannis Sisters, The Sooy Family Singers, and Dirt Don’t hurt will close the festival. Throughout the day there will be scheduled folk art demonstrations given by local artist Gail Hollinger as well as various on-going craft events that you can walk up to at anytime. Remember, the admission to the folk festival is FREE as the goal is to make this event available to all. So there is no fee for taking the workshops, participating in the folk art demonstrations or attending stage shows. Food will be available for purchase. Vibrant Grains Bakery will have their delicious bake goods, and Stan the Hot Dog man will be there to sell juicy brats and cheesesteaks.
