The top-ranked Creek Wood Red Hawks pounded Hickman County 87-48 while the Lady Red Hawks snapped a two-game skid with a 61-32 win in Centerville Tuesday night. Rated the number one team in Class AA in this weeks Associated Press poll, the Red Hawks put the Bulldogs away early and gave their bench plenty of playing time in a mercy rule District 11-AA victory. Creek Wood blew out to a 53-18 halftime lead and pushed the margin up to 41 points in the third period to activate a running clock. Freshman Coulter Dotson came off the bench to score 17 points, tying for game-high honors with Ross Cummings. Isaac Edmondson finished with 11 and Easton Aldridge scored 10 as Creek Wood remained unbeaten at 15-0 and improved to 7-0 in the district. After dropping two games in a row for the first time this season, the Lady Red Hawks bounced back by building a big first-half lead then coasting to the 29-point win over Hickman County. McKenzie Haislip canned three three-pointers in the first period as Creek Wood built a 19-8 lead. Haislip added another pair of treys and McKenzie Broadway completed a four-point play as the visitors pulled away 35-16 at intermission. Defense carried the visitors to a 24-point edge heading into the final period, giving the reserves extended playing time to wrap up the district win. Creek Wood improves to 10-7 overall and 6-1 in the district. Haislip was the only Lady Red Hawk in double figures with 22 points, including six treys. Creek Wood hits the road again Friday with a district doubleheader at Stewart County. Creek Wood swept their earlier meeting in Charlotte with the boys winning by 28 and the girls by seven.
