The tribals are reluctant to contest in the panchayat elections in the agency area as well as in the plain area. The parties are searching for tribal candidates in the plain areas but in vain. So far the tribals who were confined to the agency area are now entering the panchayats in the plain areas as per the new rules. Meanwhile, the leaders of political parties are showing more interest than the tribals themselves. As there are no sufficient tribal votes in the plain areas, the tribals are reluctant to contest.
