The trip to Normandy has proven to be a remarkably mixed bag, - TopicsExpress

The trip to Normandy has proven to be a remarkably mixed bag, through no fault of any of our marvellous companions. Miss 12 and I had a good trip from Australia and a pleasant and easy stay in Rennes. The first day here at La Cahuderie, the farmhouse were staying at to celebrate Ellen Klagess birthday, was lovely. The next day went to Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouet and Dusey, where we visited a local market. I think it was nice for Miss 12, but a little dull, and she immersed herself in Divergent. On the Tuesday, though, my iPhone began to die which may be a problem, and then I accidentally put a small scrape on the bumper of the rental car, which should be covered by insurance, but has proven incredibly stressful for this anxiety-prone bunny. We did recover a bit, yesterday, though. Faced with a sunny afternoon, Madeline Robins, Greer Gilman, Miss 12 and I headed for Mont-St-Michel, which really does defy description, combining an almost dreadful Disneyworld kind of tourism with a breathtaking setting, a stunning medieval abbey and a medieval village that has been partway transformed into something from Disneyworld, but also shows the bones of what an amazing place it was. If you go, definitely go through the abbey. It turns a good experience into an unforgettable one. I dont think anything in Normandy will top it, and I dont think Miss 12 or I will ever forget it. Sadly the phone battery died pretty early so we only have photos from the beginning of the visit, but here they are.
