The truce between Hadhrat Imam Hasan and Hadhrat Ameer Muawiyah (May Allah be well pleased with them) August 19, 2012 at 1:50pm 1. Hadhrat Ameer Mu‘awiyah had the honor of being in the blessed company of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). There are Hadith about his excellence. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) prayed that he should be “Haadi” (guide) and Mahdi (guided). There is a Hadith in Jame’ Tirmidhi: Translation: O Allah! Make Mu‘awiyah one who grants guidance, one who is guided and grant guidance to people through him. (Jame’ Tirmidhi, Hadith No. 4213) There was a deep love between Hadhrat Imam Hasan (May Allah be well pleased with him) and Hadhrat Ameer Mu‘awiyah (May Allah be well pleased with him). As per the words foretold by the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), the period of 30 years of caliphate came to an end with the 6-month caliphate of Hadhrat Imam Hasan (May Allah be well pleased with him). Hadhrat Imam Hasan (May Allah be well pleased with him) voluntarily gave it up to save Muslims from bloodshed and made a truce with Hadhrat Ameer Mu‘awiyah (May Allah be well pleased with him). A great war was averted because of this. As mentioned in this Hadith of Sahih Bukhari: Translation of Hadees: Hadhrat Hasan Basri heard from Hadhrat Abu Bakrah (May Allah be well pleased with him), he says: The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) graced the pulpit and Imam Hasan (May Allah be well pleased with him) was at side. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would intermittently look at him and then turn to the people. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: This son of mine is a chief and through him, Allah Most High will affect a truce between 2 groups of Muslims. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 3536) In this truce, various things were agreed upon. One among them was that after the passing away of Hadhrat Ameer Mu‘awiyah (May Allah be well pleased with him), the caliphate will be returned to Hadhrat Imam Hasan (May Allah be well pleased with him), but Imam Hasan (May Allah be well pleased with him) passed away before Hadhrat Ameer Mu‘awiyah. Who is called Sahaabee and what is their status: Sahabi is one who saw the Holy Prophet in the state of Islaamic faith and also died as believer, is called Sahaabee (companion of the Holy Prophet). Muhaajirs and Ansaars are also among the Prophets companions. Muhaajir companions (Sahaabee pl:Sahaabah) are those who left their homes and hearth for the sake of Allah and His Messenger Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (may Allahs choicest blessings & peace be upon him) and migrated to holy Madinah. The companion (permanent residents of Madinah) who welcomed and helped the Holy Prophet and his Mohaajir companions in Madinah are called Ansaar. All companions of the Holy Prophet are devoted servants and staunch lovers of Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (may Allahs choicest blessings & peace be upon him) and we must speak good of them with due respect. What the Holy Qur-aan and Holy Prophet say about them is that they all would be admitted into paradise and would have all their desires fulfilled. The angels would welcome them in heavens. The dread of the Doomsday and hell would not touch them. A saint even of the highest rank is no match for any Sahaabi. He who scoffs at or harbours malice for any Sahaabi is a disbeliever and deserves to be consigned to hell. When the question is raised if hazrath Ali is on Haq then yes hazrath Ali was on Haq, however nobody is allowed to utter bad about hazrath Ameer Mu‘awiyah and all due respect should be given to all the sahabis.
