The truck crash which has actor/comic #TracyMorgan in critical condition in NJ raises questions with me. NY Post says: Prosecutors charged trucker Kevin Roper of Jonesboro, Ga. with death by auto and four counts of assault by auto for causing the 1 a.m. pileup on the northbound lanes in Cranbury. Roper’s bail was set at $50,000. Okay, wheres the criminal intent? Do we automatically put people in jail for 1am crashes which arent DUIIs? (One report says he fell asleep) Are there no longer accidents in the land of the free? Or is it a matter of status of the victims? Sort of along the line that we mere mundanes are murdered, while D.C. politicians are assassinated. Maybe it was because it was a WalMart truck...just sayin. Maybe additional investigation reveals criminal intent, but it just strikes me as odd. All of us know that we assume risk every time we travel, and it doesnt always work out well, but that doesnt make it criminal. I could see major damages and lawsuits as a civil matter.
