The truth will set you free, but first...it will piss you off. One of the reasons I gravitated toward atheism was when I was a believer, I was asked If you are a Christian, have you ever read the entire Bible? I answered truthfully that I had not. I went home that night and started reading from the beginning and it took me nearly 3 weeks to reach the end. Over the next 20 years, I began reading about the origins of religion and eventually articles on the internet written by scholars who questioned the accuracy of the Bible and I found my suspicions were confirmed and my conclusion was: Religions are man made concepts designed for one thing---Control of others. Religion was and is in some parts of the world, a very effective tool in controlling the masses. The more power religion has in a region, the less educated the population. Religion wants control over public education in the U.S. so it can control what our children believe. It also wants to limit the amount of education children receive because smart children will be less likely to fall into religious theism.
