The universitys chapter of Student Veterans of America will reprise its “Hug a Vet” fundraiser today. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the quad, student veterans in their dress uniforms will give a hug to each person who donates $1. The funds raised will benefit Matthew Shank of Waynesboro, who suffered a broken back when a roadside bomb exploded under his vehicle in Afghanistan in 2011. Shank, who received a Purple Heart for his service, had to end his career in the Marines because of his injuries.
