The vast majority of Americans are at a loss when it comes to geopolitics. The only countries at our borders are Canada and Mexico. Whereas across the pond, countries border each other rather closely so their citizens tend to pay a lot more attention to what is going on in the rest of the world. World War II set a trend in that respect. The only way for people to really understand what is going on now is for them to have a rather long memory of geopolitics. Some well documented freelance journalists have just that, and are able to put the present into perspective. Every statement has a cited reference. Nothing in this is speculation.
