The very first thing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should do is restore the 60-vote filibuster. The Senate was never intended to be a majority-vote rubber stamp. It was designed to be a bottleneck. Allowing legislation to pass with only 50 votes guarantees the death of small government. And you cant argue that giving Republicans a 50-vote Senate threshold will advance limited government. From Medicare Part D to No Child Left Behind to the Iraq War, some of the worst government expansions in American history were pushed by a Republican Congress.
