The very serious and related economic problems of overall unemployment, youth unemployment, unemployment of our aging population, unemployment in such racial groups as our black communities, and underemployment have been especially persistent and unusually high during the recession which began in 2008. And our lengthy experience with the large and expensive government bureaucracies necessary to administer stimulus programs for the unemployed and underemployed uses up vast sums of money that never reaches the intended beneficiaries. Congressional action to reform our tax codes so that money is freed up for private sector investment, which also creates more jobs, is one of the few measures available for government to address this issue. In other words, put the stimulus money in the hands of bureaucrats, and it will be largely wasted; reform and cut taxes to put it in the hands of private business and consumers, and youll see the same positive results JFK and Reagan both used to successfully address the recessions they inherited.
