The vile mother of Baby Peter may be freed within days because she “poses no danger to the public”, experts say. Evil Tracey Connelly – who let her infant son Peter be tortured to death by her boyfriend – could be released having served just six years of an indefinite sentence. Assessments by psychologists and probation officers found Connelly, 32, posed no threat to public safety. Connelly – whose own mother says she should never be released – was still found to be manipulative following the expert examinations. But it is understood she displayed remorse for her horrific crimes – which is crucial to her freedom bid. A parole board will rule this week on whether she should walk free from Low Newton jail near Durham. A source close to the case said: “Connelly appeared before a parole board at the end of July when the members asked for further reports. “Those reports were carried out and all intelligence suggests she is no longer deemed a danger to the public. The only way the board could keep her in is if they think she is still a danger. “The gravity of her crimes or the public revulsion against her are not factors the board takes into account.” Connelly could be out 24 hours after her release is approved, but a shortage of suitable bail hostel places may keep her in jail a few days longer.
