The walk of the Lord is one of courageous conquest despite obstacles. Daily you will experience discouragements but there is a price to be paid in not responding with the clarion call from the Lord. We may want to make excuses why we find it hard but that will not justify lack of faith and also the ability to trust that the Lord is greater than your problem. There is a personal price to be paid by the person who either facilitates or actively discourages God’s people. A huge price to be paid and hence the response is always from us to walk by faith despite Circumstance. Pray this morning will be of great encouragement to you and your family. Jesus also endorses this thought in: Luke 17:1-6 (NIV) 1 Jesus said to his disciples: Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. 2 It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. 3 So watch yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. 4 If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, I repent, forgive him. 5 The apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith! 6 He replied, If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, Be uprooted and planted in the sea, and it will obey you. Do not ever allow the discouragement from people distract you from following Him with ALL YOU HEART. Do not ever discourage people from doing what it right. He will hold the one responsible. Love in Christ Dereck _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Numbers 32:6-15 (NIV) 6 Moses said to the Gadites and Reubenites, Shall your countrymen go to war while you sit here? 7 Why do you discourage the Israelites from going over into the land the Lord has given them? 8 This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to look over the land. 9 After they went up to the Valley of Eshcol and viewed the land, they discouraged the Israelites from entering the land the Lord had given them. 10 The Lords anger was aroused that day and he swore this oath: 11 Because they have not followed me wholeheartedly, not one of the men twenty years old or more who came up out of Egypt will see the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob-- 12 not one except Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of Nun, for they followed the Lord wholeheartedly. 13 The Lords anger burned against Israel and he made them wander in the desert forty years, until the whole generation of those who had done evil in his sight was gone. 14 And here you are, a brood of sinners, standing in the place of your fathers and making the Lord even more angry with Israel. 15 If you turn away from following him, he will again leave all this people in the desert, and you will be the cause of their destruction. Key Idea: Our example should never discourage others from doing God’s will. Questions for Family Growth: When all of the spies except Joshua and Caleb gave a bad report to Israel, what effect did it have? What are some ways that we might “discourage the hearts” of others today? Wisdom for the Day: Proverbs 4:10-19 (NIV) 10 Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. 11 I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. 12 When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble. 13 Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life. 14 Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men. 15 Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way. 16 For they cannot sleep till they do evil; they are robbed of slumber till they make someone fall. 17 They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. 18 The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. 19 But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.
