The way I see religion is this- it all comes down to being a coping mechanism. Most of these religions were written during the dark ages, times in turmoil, plague, depression. These religions were essentially made in order to help people through their life, knowing there is something to fall back on. The earliest mythologies were made to explain one thing. Why? Why was the earth created? Why are we here? Questions like that. These mythologies were the religious faith of those times. Religion is something that is pre-written and scripted and are eradicated guidelines of how the world supposedly works. This is why I believe religion and science are not comparable. Science is not something that says here how the earth works and thats final and then makes it end of discussion. Religion is a preset sequence of answers set in cultural stone and science is merely an infinite sequence of questions that will be answered using the same thing that asks them- science. Faith is a comfort mechanism. Because lets face it, most people dont go farther in thought with how their dogma is constructed. Most people know that dying is scary and the world is confusing, and then seek comfort in those truths. Some people face those truth using more than just well, heres what this book says to do science is a book that will never be out of its drafting stage. Religious Scripture is unable to be adapted- its merely accepted because people allow it to be for the sheer comfort Faith.... a false sense of hope.. gives them
