The way we handle teen pregnancy and motherhood in this culture needs to change so desperately. How can we expect these women to step up to the challenge if motherhood if they are beat down so relentlessly from the very beginning? I hate the notion that if we support young mothers to have a healthy start then it will encourage other teens to get pregnant. That is wrong on so many levels and shows a fundamental lack of understanding about the issues surrounding teen pregnancy and why it happens.
