The webzine brutalresonance has now published a review of Abscidos demo Entertainment In Another World. Writer: Drago Graveyards I was hoping for some good constructive criticism but now when Ive read the whole review, I was a little surprised. I know everyone has a different taste of music, but I cant resist to comment some of the criticism of my demo. I also know that its very important for artists to have self-criticism and the capability of allowing yourself to see things from a different perspective, in order to evolve and improve their own music. But I just cant be quiet this time! Anyway, this was the criticism that I did not fully understand and which I thought was somewhat demeaning: The tracks are trivial, lacking ideas and the lack of originality is repeated for the rest of the tracks with copy/paste. The songs have a strong influence inspired by Hocico. There is nothing innovative and Toni is only along paths already beaten and not in the best of ways. The concept design and artwork are interesting, which is not bad, but its all done with smoke and mirrors. Never judge an album by its cover. My thoughts: I just wonder, where was the lack of ideas? In the melodies, the beats maybe? My thoughts about the originality and Toni is only along paths already beaten..., is that I dont like to compare Abscido with other bands. Music is not a competition either, music isnt about who is the best. Its about expressing oneself. Its an art and not a fight. Nowadays its very difficult, to be unique and stand out from the crowd. There are so much bands producing music today, and the first bands of their genres have the pleasure to call themselves original. And the bands that are coming up and creating same style, 10-20 years later, is often referred to as copies of the big bands of the genre. I think thats wrong. If I take myself as an example, I have my influences, but the main thing for me is to create music that I enjoy listening to and that I also hope others will like. Of course it sounds a little like something that has been done before, and thats because Im not the first one creating this kind of music, and I definitely not want to copy a specific band. In this case, Im compared with Hocico. I want to create music that has my own personal touch. The copy/paste thing was just plain tasteless. Last but not least, he mentioned my artwork of the CD, in a positive way, but it all turns around in the end with a conclusion of never judge an album by its cover. Aside to the criticism and comparisons that I did not understand, I thought it was a good review, and I must thank Brutal Resonances crew for doing this. Special thanks to Drago. And to you Abscido-listeners. I want to hear your opinions about my demo! I appreciate it! I also want to remind you that it is 25 demos left for free shipping. Send me a PM if youre interested! Have a great weekend! Dark regards Abscido brutalresonance/review/abscido-entertaiment-in-another-world/
