The weekend weather could not have been better for any outdoor - TopicsExpress

The weekend weather could not have been better for any outdoor activities across Colorado. A winning combination of sunshine, warm temperatures and great fall color made this a picture perfect weekend! The sole exception to the quiet weather rule was in the extreme northeast corner of the state where some widely scattered showers and thunderstorms popped up during the afternoon. Those light showers and storms were developing along a weak cold front that is pushing over the central plains. Most of the impact from this minor system will be felt in Kansas and Nebraska where scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible tonight. The activity will be mostly out of Colorado by mid evening, with skies clearing across the eastern border. Most of this week will continue to be delightful over Colorado with warm days and cool nights through Wednesday. Toward the end of the week, two weather systems will approach the region and bring a little change to our forecast. Another weak cold front will slip down across the northern Rockies Thursday and Friday, bringing more clouds, cooler temperatures and some scattered showers. To the southwest, the remnants of Hurricane Simon - now over the southern Baja Peninsula - will drift northward into Arizona and New Mexico. We may catch a little of this tropical moisture toward the end of the week here in Colorado. If it gets this far north, it will compliment the moisture from the weak cold front and bring us a little better chance for rain Thursday and Friday. By next weekend, both of these systems will exit the region and we should have another pretty pleasant Saturday and Sunday across Colorado. The past few days have featured fabulous fall color over the central and southern mountain areas. The northern mountains still have some sheltered pockets of gold, but the aspen along and north of I-70 are generally past their peak brilliance. The next week will still be very good for aspen viewing south of I-70, but get out there sooner than later as the colors will begin to fade as well for our forests farther to the south.
