The westfalia sink pump switch is not behaving. I put in a new - TopicsExpress

The westfalia sink pump switch is not behaving. I put in a new pump. To test it, I hot-wired it. This worked last time I checked, so it must be a switch problem. The switch is attached to two wires and come out into a plastic enclosed dual spade connector (figure 1). The two wires are yellow going in, and black and green going out. The spade connectors do not loosen easily, the wires may need to be cut out. The switch has a black and green wire and a metal plate so that when you turn it they connect (figure 2). Every attempt to hot-wire the switch ended in at best a blown fuse. Are the two yellow wires and the green and black all hot? If I replaced the switch (I have a light-switch box), would it just involve cutting the wires before the spade connector and splicing enough wire to get to the switch box? They sell improved after-market faucets, but it would still need to be wired.
