The whole Gospel (continued) His Steps!! Mary was pregnant before she was married; she could have been stoned to death under the law of Jews and probably would have if an angel had not intervened. Jesus was born of very humble means and grew up in the home of a carpenter who was not wealthy Jesus was not from the tribe of Levi, so the priesthood was not a possibility. He had no social standing that would give him any advantage with Rome leaders or in the Jewish community. He did not seem to have any material possessions, Isaiah prophesied, “He has no stately form or majesty that we should look upon him” (Isaiah 53:2). Jesus had no special physical appearance of social status and His performance brought nothing but rejection from the establishment. How could he have any sense of worth? Certainly the constant abuse and rejection he received should have shattered it. All he could claim was that he had his heavenly father were one of course that is all he needed. That claim by Jesus is all we need as well. Jesus gave us an example that we should follow in His steps (John 13:15) He showed us how with a spiritual life, a person can live in this fallen world. He lived a life of model that was totally dependent upon His father. The first Adam mentioned in Genesis failed to do this, Eve was deceived and believed a lie. The first Adam willfully chose to act independent of God, Jesus the last Adam said, “l can do nothing on my own”. I live because of the father; I proceeded for and have come from God, for I have not come on my own initiative but he sent me. The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own but the father abiding in me does his work? (John 5:30, 6:57, 8:42, 14:10) The ultimate test came after 40 days of fast; Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit to go into the wilderness where satan tempted Him. The serpent said, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread” – Matthew 4:3. Satan wanted Jesus to use His divine attributes independent of the father to save Himself. Jesus replied, “Man shall not live by break alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4) near the end of His earthly ministry Jesus prayed, “Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you” (John 17:7) Will be continued Thank you God Bless you!
