The wife of a cop: When you look at people do you see color?? - TopicsExpress

The wife of a cop: When you look at people do you see color?? As my heart is plagued by all the division of race and law enforcement I cant help but feel compelled to open my mouth. I adore law enforcement. Being on the inside for the last 9 years I have seen the heart of the men that give endlessly of themselves, that put my community first. Men that serve their communities keeping the families in it safe from people that are white, black, brown, tan - men that protect and help individuals that are white, black, brown, tan or whatever descriptive color that is needed to describe a race. My husband leaves his 7yr & 2yr old daughters (who think he hung the moon and melt into his arms every time he enters the door) daily to be apart of an agency that serves a population they do not know. I, whom tends to be led by emotion and compassion would be infuriated if he did not arm himself against a STRANGER, not a white man, not a black man, not a tan man just simply a person that is not in compliance with the law. He is a son, an incredible husband, an adored Daddy - a good, honest citizen. It is his responsibility to read body language and his right to preserve his life if threatened. He is not the criminal. That being said, I fully understand that there are men that abuse authority, however that is NOT the vast majority of law enforcement. Every people group will be laced with cruel and evil beings. We live in a fallen world full of fallen people. If you were to ask me or my husband if we notice color when we look at people? My answer would be of course I do, how do you not? Our earth is beautifully scattered with people of all shades, all shapes and sizes, different cultures, traditions and beliefs. It is an amazing thing that we have the privilege of living in an age where we can learn from, communicate with and prosper with ALL people groups. Instead we allow hatred and bitterness to creep into the confines of our soul and strip us from the ability to love one another and generally believe in the good of mankind. With that our leadership has become political cowards when it comes to taking a stance on current events, to afraid of being labeled as racist or losing votes! While race seems to be the issue the root of it is justification of what is right and wrong!! It is easy to become sensitive and tip toe around topics or walk through life with the mentality of a victim. Bad things will happen to good people and good things will happen to bad people.....there is no certainty and we are not guaranteed anything! My heart is broken for so many different controversies and ultimately for the chaos and divisiveness that is currently plaguing our nation. Today my gratitude extends to the only certainty that I have; my faith in Christ - it allows me to see shades of people as something so beautiful, that only my intricate God could create a palette of people so diverse and perfect. It allows me to see that the color of man doesnt define their heart OR their actions. It allows me to walk in confidence and hope. It allows me to love and forgive. Without this certainty my eyes would be tainted with the worldly vision that has saturated our society!!
