The wind took my tree! Romans 11: 18, “It’s not you that sustains the root, it is the root that sustains you.” While living His life according to the will of God, this massive Tree with all its majesty and wonder filled the forest with shade for all to enjoy. Then in one instant, as a whirlwind came through its branches it tossed the tree to and fro, and it struggled to maintain its grip on the forest floor below. But in one last struggling effort, the tree succumbed, ripping its root base out of the ground, and sending the tree to its end, onto the bed of the wilderness. To its end, or so we think… Then one day a lumberjack, tall and silent came upon this behemoth and saw it was still strong at its root to the tip of its highest branch. He mulled over the size, and began to dismantle the tree with ease and care. The leaves had all faded away, as most things do after their season. So begins the tree’s second life: He removed the upper branches separating them into their own pile and cut the trunk into sections and then, noticing the gnarled wood of the root base, he carefully surrendered it to the saw. Death you see? But notice this: He took the trunk, shaved off the bark and cut the trunk into lumber to build his house, then he took the branches and used it for firewood to warm his home. He found use of the gnarled roots, and built a chandelier to light his shelter. So, if you think you’ve fallen and you can’t get up, remember there is purpose right to the end, which is also a beginning. Don not fear when you fall, just rest a while and you’ll see. You’ll see the lumberjack coming to make you a work of art, using you to shine the light, using you to bring warmth to others, and shelter others from the storm. But what of the Bark? All the shavings? This my friend, was used to fertilize the ground where a new seed had been planted. God Bless the hearers and the doers, the lumberjack in your life that can renew your purpose, and the light he gave to shine onto others!!! AMEN!!!
