The world’s most expensive footballer, superstar Cristiano Ronaldo refused to wear Israel’s jersey in a bid to show solidarity with the Palestinians and their cause. The incident took place just before FIFA World Cup 2014 during a friendly match played between Portugal and Israel, and the Portuguese striker refused to exchange his shirt with Israeli player, a ritual that is common in International football. After the match, he walked straight off the pitch because he could not agree to wear a jersey on which there was the flag of the State of Israel. When the reporters asked Ronaldo about his refusal to this common practice in the locker room, he answered: cristiano-ronaldo “I do not exchange my shirt with ASSASSINS (Murderers)” This is not the first time the Portuguese star Ronaldo has shown his solidarity with Palestinians, last year he auctioned off his soccer boot in gold, to help Palestinian victims of Israeli bombing.
