The year was 1973 and the Temptations were in concert at the DC Colosseum (formerly the Uline Arena). My Brother and his best Friend were so excited that they had tickets and left our Northeast Trinidad home to see the show. For some unknown reason a fight broke out and a riot occurred. My Brother and his Bestie started home to allude the ruckus when a police struck him in the head because he had said that the incident didnt have happen. My Brother, with a split in his head collapsed at 7th & K Street and his bestie ran to our house to alert my Mother and Father. The police left him bleeding and dazed on the sidewalk. He had to have stitches to repair the damage. When my then 4 year old Son saw his Uncles injury the next day he cried and asked how did he get hurt? When my Brother told him the police did it my Son cried harder and said, But you told me that the police is our friend how could they hurt you? On Monday night I asked the same question that was asked by my 4 year old 41 years ago, But you told me that the police is our friend how could they hurt you Michael Brown? Still no answer just somebodys baby boy laying in the street bleeding and dead! Protect our men and boys please Father in Jesus name !
