The years have gone by so quickly since I competed in the Miss Virginia Pageants four years in a row. Many memories and growth that took place as a result of the interviews, the interaction with the other contestants, and the grueling schedule while we were in Roanoke during the week of competition. Early mornings and late nights, and high heels that I still cannot believe we stayed in for hours on end. But it was truly an amazing time in my life, and I am still the only young woman who competed four years in a row, with amazing people working with me and grooming me. Thank you to all of my sponsors and the women who stayed with me and helped prepare me each day and in the months prior to the pageant. But most of all, the friendships that came were priceless. Susan Parker Potter sang at my wedding and we were inseparable the week that we were in Roanoke. I send my prayers and thoughts to everyone who knew her, and loved her. May God bless you as you remember and may the tears that you shed bring healing. Susan and I laughed a lot when we were together, and I will never forget when she sang; it was truly a God-given talent.
