The young, broke, and heedless: Thanks to Lauren Berlant, I got hooked onto BROAD CITY before it became a thing -- its kind of what HBOs GIRLS would be if it was actually feminist, which it isnt, and had a sense of humor about itself, which it doesnt, and was really honest about being girls, which, again, it isnt [but okay, its maybe representative of a small slice of spoiled, inner Manhattan]. BROAD CITY cannot be described pithily, and although now on Comedy Central as a 30-minute lowbrow situation comedy, it started out as a DIY 3-minute-episode serial series on YouTube].
