The youth of this country make up a majority of the population, - TopicsExpress

The youth of this country make up a majority of the population, yet can still feel politically disempowered and economically abandoned by politicians. Though we occupy a majority position in the society, however, we are a particularly vulnerable group, a largely disenfranchised group, that generally depends on others to advocate for us. We have been pressed into service as cheap labour and involved in drug and substance abuse and prostitution. We are affected by both the poor conditions associated with poor education standards and high unemployment rates. It is therefore essential that we take advantage of the brought forward elections and participate fully to express our disagreement with how the politicians treat us. We live in a democratic society in which we have the right to vote. This precious right gives us a vital role in the choice of those who will govern us. The right to vote, at any level, is without doubt the most important symbol of a people’s participation in public affairs. The Youth that effectively use this right have a privileged status. Let us go and vote in the firm belief, and knowledge and conviction that THE INTERESTS OF THE YOUTH MUST AND WILL BE PAID ATTENTION TO.
