Theists, agnostics, and atheists should all watch this Socrates in the City talk with audience Q & A afterwards. The guest is Stephen Meyer, a Ph.D from Cambridge, and Director of the Discovery Institute, which is the main research center for advocates of Intelligent Design. Most of the general public and casual fans of science and religion only hear what the mainstream media has to say about the controversy surrounding Darwinism and its rival theories, having never read the books by proponents of any side. Anyone who is interested in the cultural debate over cosmological and biological origins would do well to hear a purely intellectual and philosophical presentation of the key issues. Is Intelligent Design science? He talks about why he thinks it is and how many peer reviewed articles in leading scientific journals the movement has now. Is it Creationism in disguise trying to infiltrate and indoctrinate in public schools? He states its not and doesnt even want the issue debated at the level of early schooling right now, but rather at the highest levels of academia, where he thinks the Neo-Darwinian paradigm has fractured and rival theories are being discussed and bandied about by leading intellectuals and scientists. Is Intelligent Design a purely Christian movement as Michael Shermer, publisher of Skeptic magazine suggests? No, there are members including Ph.D Hindus and agnostic mathematicians as well. Even atheists like Richard Dawkins would be open to some kind of non-theistic Panspermia, or Ancient Aliens scenarios involving Design. So, instead of hearing about Intelligent Design in the media surrounding crazy circus mock court trials that people like this didnt even bother showing up for, take a moment to educate yourself, and see what you think? Do you agree, or disagree, or will you have to give it some more thought? https://youtube/watch?v=aFPhTDfcbrA
