The [Insert Your Award Here] Award - awarded to the person that has done something wonderful that defies category, and so we created our own! WINNER: Ben Wawatai – Not only did he fully commit to his performance, began selling the song the second he appeared on the stage and showed how much he loved it, the audience loves this, but in order to completely embody ‘Ol’ Blue Eyes’ (Frank Sinatra) he wore blue contact lenses – AND THAT’S COMMITMENT. So each winner now has 10 points for their house AND every nominee will also receive 5 points. The scoreboards will be updated for this first week back. Congratulations to all of you! Ayla, Ben and Rachel you have all been put in Slytherin as that’s generally where the singers and dancers go. Jordan, Chloe, Ezekial and Steven you have been put in Ravenclaw, as that’s generally where the technicians and musicians (now) go. Jorgia, please organize for these wonderful new performers to write their names on the relevant scrolls. Also a reminder that even though some students have moved VCE subjects, I think we make it a rule that the house in which you start the year, that’s the house you remain in throughout the year. You’ll also not that I said NOW musicians go into Ravenclaw. My reasoning is three-fold. First, I think it’s worthwhile acknowledging that to play a musical instrument your skill and intelligence is more finely honed in order to do so successfully, these are qualities more befitting a Ravenclaw. Secondly, it’s not uncommon to find musicians also make excellent technicians given the equipment many of them handle on a regular basis and finally, Slytherin was going to overflow if ALL singers, dancers and musicians went there and Ravenclaw was predominantly technicians and Theatre Studies students (our two smallest groups!) So please note have moved over a few of the MAP kids from one to the other, the ones who are predominantly musicians. Touch base with me to check the list as believe the majority won’t have written their names on the scroll. If they have (perhaps at working bee) then, as per previous rule, they can stay where they were for the remainder of this year but will move in the coming one ☺ Are there any other new people to be sorted? In case you are interested, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin are now all pretty much of a muchness but Gryffindor NEEDS new members!
