Then: Bathgate War Memorial unveiled 8th November 1925 at Wallace Road (Veterans Cottages were part of the memorial - to house wounded servicemen and their families)The two bronze plaques listed the names of 243 Bathgate men who died during the Great War( a third plaque was added later listing an additional 19 names) Now 1: the Wallace Road site of the war memorial in July this year - the memorial stone records the relocation of the memorial to Mid Street in the Challenge Anneka TV programme May 1995.( the weeds were removed shortly after the photo was taken) Now 2: Peter Peace World War 2 R.A.F. veteran assisted by Councillor John McGinty unveils the new plaque adding 14 names to the memorial on Remembrance Sunday 9th November. There are now 332 men from Bathgate who died in the Great War, the Second World War and the Korean War remembered on the memorial.
