Theologian, schmeologian... There IS value in studying theology for years and years, but guess what? The days of What-are-your-credentials-for-speaking-on-theological-matters? are over. If we cant stand on the ground out here and admit that scores of so-called scholars with doctorate degrees in theology have given us some of the most twisted, spooky shit for theology by this time in human history, then theres (literally) no hope for us of evolving into an intelligent life form here. Yes, I just did make such a statement. Under what authority? Youre kidding, right? If any paradoxical reality can be proven it is that an old Blackfoot Indian living in a run-down trailer house surrounded by a bunch of chickens and old scrapped cars can often give you a more accurate picture of God that a Bible College professor. I know that there are some who are insulted by that, but its just because they are jealous of the humble, old fellow chopping firewood I just told you about. Theology means thoughts and concepts about God. There’s nothing bad about theology... It’s what man has done with (it in an authoritative fashion) where the trouble is... A few years ago I was selling my art in a park from a white tent. Some starchy artist stopped to browse my prints, then started waxing eloquent on the art schools he had attended, naming the art professors he studied under. He then asked me what my art-training credentials were. I simply told him... Well, while you were in art school studying your teachers work, I was sitting out by the lake studying lily pads, and how best to paint them There are more polite ways of saying things sometimes, but then there ARE times when we just need to be a little more blunt...
