There I was this morning on the elliptical trainer,(thats a piece of equipment, not a gym employee.) My endorphins were in overdrive. And then it happened. Marsh Madness inspiration was beginning to foment within me, much akin to molten lava erupting from an angry volcano. Thus, the genesis for todays post,# Imtickedoffsoletitrip. Here we go! The NFL is getting perilously close to allowing fringe issues to become part of its brand. Does anyone care how Bob Irsay is disciplined? Why even bother telling us? Rhetorical. See, Mr. Goodell and the minions around him want the rest of us to know that swift, harsh and meaningful punishment will be leveled against anyone, not just the out-of-control players, who display misdeeds of conduct. It also brings warmth and collective nods of approval from the NFLPA. Ahhh. We are all in this together! Not so fast Barney. Theres the rub. This is foolhardy drama, intended and not appreciated. You want some drama Roger? Hop in a cab, go to Coney Island and watch the annual Nathans hot dog eating contest. Hopefully, that will satiate your appetite for drama. (Pretty good play on words huh!) And while were at it, there is one more thing Roger. You guys need to focus on football, and not managing the lives and solving all the problems of your pigskin family. We have all seen this travesty play out before. You know, the it-takes-a-village syndrome. Thats right, the one where everyone is responsible for everything, and no one is accountable for anything. Dont go there big fella. Maybe you just like to sing Kumbaya. OK. But please, do it on your own time, and please keep it a secret from me! Geez, I really feel good. My thanks to the elliptical trainer!
